Ben Migono / May 19, 2017

You may know Chris Cornell as the frontman in bands like Soundgarden and Audioslave and reports came out a couple of days ago that the musician was found dead in the bathroom of his MGM Grand Hotel room in Detroit. Now, reports are coming out with the results of a preliminary autopsy stating that Cornell died due to suicide.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office has not completed a full autopsy report yet, but their preliminary report said that the cause of death was suicide by the way of hanging.

Cornell’s passing was a shocking revelation for his family and die-hard fans as Cornell performed a show in Detroit just hours before his body was found. His voice was an integral part of Soundgarden’s success when they formed way back in 1984 with bassist Hiro Yamamoto and lead guitarist Kim Thayil. As a grunge band that came out of Seattle, they were part of the movement that changed the musical landscape in the early 90’s with other bands like Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, and Nirvana.

Soundgarden was currently on tour which was planned to finish on May 27th.

RIP Chris Cornell, you will be missed.
